Estyn Hulbert moved to New York at the turn of the millennium to assist her aunt, artist and jewelry designer, Jessica Rose. She apprenticed with Jessica for five years, becoming her design partner while immersing herself in the materials and language that define exquisite, wearable art. After launching her own jewelry line in 2006, Estyn soon determined that her inspiration developed through the use of architectural ornamentation, typography, textiles, and symbols from ancient cultures. “Following the thread of an idea leads me from one design to the next, frequently in an unanticipated direction”, Estyn states. “I think in terms of the architecture of a piece, striving for structural integrity and seamlessness between the material and the form.”
